This is a 10-day small-group photography tour designed for South African photographers who want more than a holiday snap. We move slowly, return to locations at the right hour, and give you the context to understand what you’re photographing.
The Old Quarter at dawn. Thanh Ha Street’s chaotic afternoon light. Long Biên Market before sunrise. Train Street on a confirmed schedule. Every stop has been tested, timed and refined.

Day 1
Arrival & Orientation. Finding The Rhythm
Hoàn Kiếm Lake at dusk. Hàng Khay Street, soft evening light, old shopfronts. The city introduces itself slowly.
Day 2
Old Quarter Immersion. Entering The Pulse
Ô Quan Chưởng Gate to Chợ Đồng Xuân. Hàng Mã Street in the afternoon. St. Joseph’s Cathedral as the light drops.
Day 3
Culture & Intimacy. Order Inside The City
Long Biên Bridge at morning. Temple of Literature in the afternoon quiet. Kham Thiên Train Street after dark.
Day 4
Monuments & Memory. The Weight Of Hanoi
Tree-lined boulevards, Ba Đình Square, Ho Chi Minh’s Stilt House. The Imperial Citadel. The Old Quarter reclaims the night.
Day 5
Silk, River & Sunset. Hanoi Beyond The Centre
Vạn Phúc Silk Village, then Banana Island by jeep. Trấn Quốc Pagoda at golden hour. Trúc Bạch after dark.
Day 6
Made By Hand. Villages, Water & Night Markets
Bát Tràng Ceramic Village. Phủ Tây Hồ Temple at sunset. Quảng Bá Flower Market after dark.
Day 7
Colour & Night Energy. Contrast And Character
Quảng Phú Cầu Incense Village at dawn. Back to Hàng Mã with fresh eyes. Mã Mây Street and the Old Quarter Weekend Market by night.
Day 8
Colonial Shadows & Evening Streets. Hanoi’s Other Layer
Egg coffee at Café Giảng. Hỏa Lò Prison, then the Hanoi Opera House. Hàng Chai and Hàng Bạc as evening settles.
Day 9
Final Street Flow. Confidence In Motion
Back to Chợ Đồng Xuân with sharper eyes. Làng Chuông hat village in the afternoon. Hoàn Kiếm Lake closes the circle.
Day 10
Departure. Leaving Hanoi
One last sunrise at the lake. A free hour on your favourite street. Final image review, ten best frames, group feedback. Then goodbye.
What you get
Not included: International flights, personal meals outside the itinerary, camera equipment and anything you spend on your own time.
You don’t need to be experienced. Complete beginners are welcome to join Nammads.
The gear that you are most comfortable with, but my recommendations would be the following : 24–70mm or equivalent zoom and a Fast prime (35mm or 27mm), nd filters and a light weight tripod.
Moderate. Some early starts. A lot of walking 8 to 12km on active days. No hiking or strenuous activity, but you need to be comfortable on your feet for hours at a time in heat and humidity.
